Core 2 Quad

Thermaltake Xaser II

Since I was not able to go to work today, I spent my late afternoon in SM Fairview to buy components to upgrade my current PC. I wasn’t planning on upgrading my PC just yet but as circumstances have it, I should. My old PC (Athlon XP 2200+) in Dumaguete just couldn’t stand it any longer, it broke down for the nth time, and as of last, it was for good. So I had to replace it. If I upgrade it with the lowest available components now in the market, it would make it more robust than the PC I have here in Manila. So I decided to upgrade my PC in Manila then bring the old components to Dumaguete. Tomorrow, with my good friend, we will be assembling the new PC.  BTW, he was the one who gave me my Thermaltake Xaser II casing (pictured here, click for a larger image *new window*).

Here are the specs of my current PC running Vista Ultimate:
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 @ 2.0 GHz 800 FSB Processor
* Intel D945GCNL Motherboard
* 2 x 1GB Kingston KVR667D2N5/1G PC2-5300 Memory Modules
* 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm SATA Hard Disk
** Inno3D NVidia GeForce 7300LE 256MB DDR PCI-E Video Card
* to be replaced and tranferred to old PC in Dumaguete
** transferred to new Motherboard

Here are the specs of my soon to be PC (will run Vista Ultimate also)
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8400 (4M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Asus P5KPL-AM SE Motherboard
2 x 2GB Kingston KV800D2N6/2G PC2-6400 Memory Modules
640GB Western Digital 7200 rpm SATA Hard Disk
* Inno3D NVidia GeForce 7300LE 256MB DDR PCI-E Video Card
* already in current PC

I’ll blog about how the assembly and software installation another time.  Then I’ll also blog on the PC in Dumaguete which will be replaced by July 24, together with a new casing to be chosen by my wife Janice.

    Sorry, it is Asus P5KPL-AM/SE. My mistake.
